Musical instruments

Our woodwind and brass players double on the following instruments:

  • Flute / Piccolo, Alto Flute
  • Oboe / English Horn
  • Clarinet / Bass Clarinet
  • Bassoon / Contra Bassoon
  • Trumpet (in Bb) / Trumpet (in C), Flugelhorn, Piccolo Trumpet

Any doubling instrument needs should be included ahead of time in the orchestra lineup request.

All of our double basses are 5-string instruments.

An instrument rental fee will apply on Percussion instruments (Taiko drum included), Harp, Piano as well as any uncommon instruments requested (i.e. Cimbasso or Wagner Horn.)

The following Concert Grand Pianos are available: Steinway Model D and Bösendorfer Imperial.

Remote Sessions

In the event of Remote Sessions where the composer cannot be present in the recording studio, we broadcast the audio feed via Source Live. The listener is not required to purchase the software. More information at

Simultaneously we use Skype for communication. Our Skype account is “Budapest.scoring”.

After completing the recording session all session files are uploaded to our FTP site and available for download within 24 hours.

An FTP client is required for the process (such as Filezilla among others).


Sessions must be booked at least 14 days in advance; however, we encourage you to book sessions early in order to have a greater selection of available studio dates. Finalizing a session booking requires 50% payment.


We require a 50% advance payment for the final booking of a session. The second half shall be payable within 3 days (72 hours) after completion of the recording session. For Shared Sessions we require full payment in advance.

Preferred payment method:

  • U.S.: wire transfer, direct deposit (Bank of America)
  • Non-U.S.: wire transfer (wire transfer fee shall be paid by the sender)


Scores and parts should be delivered in PDF format in the following sizes: A3 for scores and A4 for parts.

Pro Tools sessions should be delivered as PTX files. If you don’t have access to Pro Tools you can send a MIDI file that includes your tempo map. Audio click tracks are not recommended.

Delivery deadline is firmly 24 hours prior to the session start.

Data storage

We understand that accidents happen. A damaged hard drive could be an incredible loss. In case of any unforeseeable circumstances where information is lost, we store your session data for 6 months after the date of your recording session unless requested otherwise.

Cancellation or Postponement

A. Rescheduling
  1. Budapest Scoring recording sessions can be rescheduled for no cost at any time 7 days prior to the scheduled recording session. The new recording date has to be within a reasonable time-frame, not to exceed 90 days. Unless otherwise specifically agreed in writing by Budapest Scoring, to the extent that the rescheduling is over 90-days, it shall be considered to be a cancellation, subject to the terms below.
  2. In the event that rescheduling occurs within 7 days prior to the scheduled Budapest Scoring recording session, it shall be considered to be a cancellation, subject to the terms below.
B. Cancellation
  1. In the event of cancellation of a Budapest Scoring recording session, 10% of the QUOTE price has to be paid if the cancellation occurs not less than one week (seven days) before the recording session.
  2. In the event of cancellation of a Budapest Scoring recording session, 50% of the QUOTE price has to be paid if the cancellation occurs less than one week (seven days) but more than three days (72 hours) before the recording session.
  3. In the event of cancellation of a Budapest Scoring recording session, 100% of the QUOTE price has to be paid if the cancellation occurs less than three days (72 hours) of the recording session.
